I come from a family of early adopters.
I remember when we got our first microwave and VCR.
My mom was even a beta tester in the early ’80s for QuickBooks—on her Apple IIe. The same Apple IIe I took to college in 1984, when everyone else brought electric typewriters.
So, it’s no surprise that our office has jumped headfirst into using AI.
Here are just a few ways it’s helping us out:
- Our salesperson John—another early adopter—created a GPT (think of it as a custom knowledge base) that writes painting estimates in his voice. He just speaks the measurements and project details, and the AI generates the estimate.
- Our office manager uses AI to review estimates that have been sold. It flags important info like whether the job involves lead paint, if the customer needs help choosing colors, and other details we need before kicking off a project.
- Our estimators now snap a photo of a home’s exterior, upload it to our GPT, and let the AI “paint” the house digitally in different colors so the customer can see how it’ll look. The whole process takes about 15 seconds!
- And naturally, we all use AI to write clearer, more professional emails.
And as you might guess, my 84 year old mother is hooked too! Lately she’s been uploading her lab tests to see what medical issues might need digging into.
So take a look around you.
It’s possible that your non-techy business (like my painting company) can use AI in lots of ways.
Right now.
Did you know you can hire me to help you find great staff?
